ABOUT ME

My name is Elinor. I am a qualified therapeutic counsellor who works under the BACP ethical framework with over 6 years experience.

I believe that counselling should be accessible for all and so I offer very competitive rates and discounts for those on low incomes or students.

I endeavour to provide a welcoming, empathic safe space for you to explore your thoughts, feelings and situations.

We all go through tough times, different issues arise during our lives, whether it's loss, relationship difficulties, stress, anxiety, depression or anything else and having someone to talk through these with can be very helpful to our mental well being. However, this space isn't just for this but to improve our mental health and to learn ways to keep ourselves well.

I have been drawn to helping people all of my life. I have volunteered for victim support, helping those emotionally through their trauma and specialised in sexual violence. I have previously worked within the NHS as a rehabilitation assistant and more recently have worked as a carer. During these roles I realised that a huge part of the job is being there emotionally for my clients. Having someone to listen to them was a big part of their recovery and mental health well-being which led me into the world of counselling.

TRAINING

My practice is largely over the communication platform Google Meet, with Walk & Talk available and Face to Face coming soon. Each session is 50 mins long. I provide long and short term counselling as well as single session therapy.

I have over 8 years experience in the field of counselling. I graduated with a BSc in psychology and counselling. Years later I went on to complete my Level 3 Certificate in counselling skills, and then completed my level 4 in therapeutic counselling.

I work as an integrative therapeutic counsellor. This approach ensures that I focus on your needs, adapting the therapy as required to meet those needs.

My practice is influenced by Dialectic Behavioural Therapy, Person Centred and psycho-dynamic which means the work is led by you the client and focused on the issues you present, we might explore your problems with an intent to change, but this will be determined by what you want from therapy.

The most important thing I feel is having the safe space to express yourself, whether that be to get things off your chest and being heard, exploring a relationship or situation or to want to change something.

I believe that in order to change we must first create some self awareness. Getting to know ourselves fully so we can then decide on what we would like to change as well as having full control over our emotions, thoughts and behaviours.

I work with a wide variety of presenting problems such as stress, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, problems with sleeping, addictions, work related issues, relationship issues, self-esteem and loneliness, loss and bereavement, trauma and abuse, sexual problems, childhood problems and social anxiety, to name a few.
