ABOUT ME

My name is Elinor. I am a qualified therapeutic counsellor who works under the BACP ethical framework with over 7 years experience.

I believe that counselling should be accessible for all and so I offer very competitive rates and discounts for those on low incomes or students.

I endeavour to provide a welcoming, empathic safe space for you to explore your thoughts, feelings and situations.

We all go through tough times, different issues arise during our lives, whether it's loss, relationship difficulties, stress, anxiety, depression or anything else and having someone to talk through these with can be very helpful to our mental well being. However, this space isn't just for this but to improve our mental health and to learn ways to keep ourselves well.

I have been drawn to helping people all of my life. I have volunteered for victim support, helping those emotionally through their trauma and specialised in sexual violence. I have previously worked within the NHS as a rehabilitation assistant and more recently have worked as a carer. During these roles I realised that a huge part of the job is being there emotionally for my clients. Having someone to listen to them was a big part of their recovery and mental health well-being which led me into the world of counselling.

TRAINING

My Practice and Approach

I offer therapy primarily through the communication platform Google Meet, with Walk & Talk sessions also available. Face-to-face appointments will be available soon. Each session is 50 minutes in length, and I provide both short-term and long-term counselling, as well as single-session therapy options.

With over eight years of experience in the field of counselling, I hold a BSc in Psychology and Counselling, a Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Skills, and a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling.

As an Integrative Therapeutic Counsellor, my approach is flexible and client-centered, ensuring that I tailor the therapy to suit your individual needs. This allows for a more dynamic and responsive process where we work together to address the challenges you are facing.

I draw on a variety of therapeutic frameworks, including Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Person-Centered Therapy, and Psychodynamic Therapy. This integrative approach means the therapy is led by you, the client, and focused on the issues you present. We may explore these issues with an intent to foster change, but the direction and goals of the therapy will always be guided by your needs and wishes.

The Therapeutic Space

Above all, I believe that creating a safe, non-judgmental space for self-expression is fundamental to the therapeutic process. Whether you're seeking a space to vent, explore difficult relationships or situations, or address desires for personal change, I am committed to providing that supportive environment.

I also believe that meaningful change begins with self-awareness. By gaining a deeper understanding of ourselves, we can identify areas for growth and develop greater control over our emotions, thoughts, and behaviours.
